Being a party to a family law matter, especially if it is in Court, is often one of the most difficult times in a person’s life.
Our lawyers regularly suggest that clients going through family law proceedings obtain support from counsellors, psychologists or other treating mental health practitioners as needed, not necessarily because they think that their clients have mental health conditions, but to obtain additional support during a very stressful and often destabilising period.
If you do find yourself in need of mental health support during your family law proceedings or otherwise, for support you may wish to contact:
- Your General Practitioner
- Lifeline Australia: 13 11 14
- 1800RESPECT for domestic, family, and sexual violence counselling: 1800 737 732
